Pictures from the SCAA convention in Minneapolis ...... Click the thumbnail for a full size image.

The entrance to the
Minneapolis
Convention Center, site of the 20th annual SCAA conference. |
|
The stone arched bridge over the
Mississippi. Built in the 1880's as a railway trestle, it is now a
walking and biking path. |
|
Who can turn the
world on with her smile? |
| Inside the exhibition hall during the conference.
Hundreds of booths ..... |

| One of the Craft Roasting Lab's
offered by the Roaster's Guild. There were five lab's over the
weekend with about 48 students in each. |
|
The roasters used in the
Roasting Lab's. From left, an Ambex, two Diedrichs, two US Roasters,
and (missing in this photo) a Probat. I was an instructor on the
nearer US Roaster machine. |

| Some of the Royal Coffee crew at
their booth. Jay (at right), who sample roasts all the coffees for
Royal would brew samples in the "four barrel" drip stand
in front. I couldn't have made it through the conference without
Jay's coffee. |
|
The mighty Mississippi as seen
from the stone arched bridge. The water is turbulent because of the
falls just below the bridge connecting 3rd and Central Avenues.
There is a lock visible at the left. In the late 19th and early 20th
centuries, water power was used to mill flour and saw lumber.
Minneapolis was the largest producer of flour in the US, and Gold Medal
and White Lily buildings still stand across the river from each other
here. |
